| A note from the President | ||||||
| Greetings to the Indianapolis Jaycees! I hope you had a great holiday season and that 2007 has many good things in store for both you and the Chapter. I am writing this letter to you just having returned from the Local President's Summit, a 3 day training program for Chapter Presidents. As US Jaycee President Chris Oldham shared his vision with over 200 Chapter Presidents, I saw several opportunities where we can make changes and improvements to make this a truly exciting and vibrant Chapter, and I want to take this opportunity to start sharing with you some of the goals and plans for 2007. Before I go any further, I want to thank the 2006 Board for their hard work this past year. While we had to contend with several stressful issues, we also had several accomplishments in 2006 such as a record Cornbooth and a very successful Foodbasket. I also want introduce
to you the 2007 Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Jaycees: As I mentioned above, I also want to share with you a few of the goals and plans for 2007. The first is to improve the way the Board communicates with the Chapter. While "This Week" is a good tool and will continue to be used, a periodic e-newsletter will also be used so higher level topics that don't lend themselves to ''This Week" can be shared with the Chapter. Another goal is to bring back Chapter meetings in such a way that the topics and places visited are informative and educational. The first such new Chapter meeting will be in February. Once the plans are finalized, the meeting will be posted on the calendar and included in "This Week". A third goal the Board is going to pursue is to increase the training that we offer to our Chapter members and the business community at large. The US Jaycees has a tremendous training taskforce (not to mention that some of our own members are very good trainers), and this is something that we can leverage for not only the Chapter's benefit but the community's benefit as well. Finally, the Chapter cannot function without you, the member. It is the Board's intention to make the Indianapolis Jaycees an exciting and relevant organization that every young professional in the Indianapolis area will want to be a part of. Keep your eyes and ears open for more details as they become available, and here's to a great 2007!
