INDIANAPOLIS JAYCEES CHAPTER MEETING

*NOTE LOCATION CHANGE*

Come join the Jaycees for the first Chapter meeting of 2007! We will be meeting at Promethius Consulting, a small business that specializes in IT consulting, website design/programming, and corporate branding and marketing. At this meeting, we'll hear about some challenges and rewards of small business ownership, as well as take an inside look at a local podcasting studio.

There will also be general chapter announcements, a raffle, and refreshments.

Promethius Consulting is located on West 96th street, near Michigan Road and the Pyramids. From I-465, take the Michigan Road exit. 96th is just north of the exit; go West on 96th. At the Hoosier Village Retirement Center, turn right (it is well marked with signs and lights). Take the first left (before the stop sign). Promethius is in the two-story building to your right. ST. PATRICK'S DAY AT THE CLADDAGH IRISH PUB
LOCATION: CLADDAGH NORTHSIDE AND DOWNTOWN
The Jaycees first fundraiser for 2007 is here! On St. Patrick's Day, we are going to help the Claddagh staff their party tents. As in years past, there are 2 sites - downtown and the northside near 96th and Keystone. Each site needs 30 volunteers, broken into 2 shifts of 15 volunteers. The shift times are 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM, and 7:30 PM to 12:30 AM. We are going to be partnering with other groups to help staff the event, but for each volunteer slot that is filled with a partnering group, that's less funds going to the Indy Jaycees. This is a fun event that will bring much needed funds to the Chapter, so let us know which shift you are available to volunteer!

A note from the President

Hello Fellow Jaycee!

One of my goals as President this year is to increase the quality of the communication that the Board provides to members and our friends who receive "This Week".  One of the ways that I would like to increase the quality of communication is for the Board to share the vision, plans, and goals for the year.

This is the third "Message from the President".  In my previous messages, I have shared some of my plans and goals for 2007.  While I may be President, I am certainly not the only Board member.  There are currently 3 Area Vice Presidents (VP's), the Admin VP (AVP), and the Chairman of the Board (COB).  All of these individuals have plans and goals for the year, and it is important for these people to be able to share their plans and goals with the Chapter.  With this in mind, over the next several weeks, I have asked the Board to share with you their plans and goals for the upcoming year.

As you read the plans and goals that the Board has for 2007, if you see something that interests you or something that you have experience and expertise in, I want to encourage you to contact the relevant Board member and get involved.  Your involvement will not only help the Board and the Chapter, but it will help provide additional input and a more thoughtful perspective than what would have been possible otherwise.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you throughout the year.

Best Regards,
Jeff Higbie
President, Indianapolis Jaycees

Indianapolis Jaycees Relay for Life Team - June 2007
Location: Indianapolis or Lawrence

The Indianapolis Jaycees want to form a Relay for Life Team. Each year thousands of teams form to raise money for cancer research. In 1985 Dr. Gordy Klatt, a cancer surgeon, spent 24 hours walking or running to raise money for his local American Cancer Society. Dr. Klatt asked friends, family, and patients to walk or run with him. He raised $27,000. Now years later, this event is nationwide. Relay for Life typically involves more than 3 million participants and raises more than $250 million for research. A team is formed of 8 to 15 people. Each team is asked to raise a minimum of $100. If you want to help advance cancer research, please help the Jaycees form a team. Contact Traci Powell at 791-1351 or marketingvp@indyjaycees.org.
